Supporting women recovering from breast cancer

Pink Affair sponsors Stepping Into Wellness special exercise programs for women recovering from breast cancer surgery.

This program helps rebuild their strength, confidence and morale. The special exercise classes are held around Melbourne at no cost to participants.

We are an-all volunteer, community based charity in Melbourne dedicated to this cause since 2005.

Our Story

Pink Affair proudly celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2015.

It all started as a ladies lunch in a local café as a fund raiser for breast cancer, organised by Teresa D’Amelio and small group of family, friends and neighbours in North Carlton in Melbourne’s inner north. Fifty turned up to the original event, which was such a success it’s grown to become a hugely popular pink-themed annual ladies lunch for 500 at a local reception centre.

Over the years, this event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support women recovering from breast cancer.

We now also have a trivia night and movie premiere lunch as annual fund raisers – events for ladies to dress in a theme, bring their friends and family, let their hair down and have fun. These events are supported by a fantastic hard working tribe of volunteers, wonderful sponsors and generous donations of goods and services by local businesses.

The classes – Stepping into Wellness

The 6-week exercise program is free for participants.

The gentle exercises are designed to help restore women’s strength and confidence in their bodies after treatment for cancer.

Participants learn specific exercises to help boost their energy, and how to safely improve their range of movement.

Led by a qualified instructor who has had breast cancer, the classes are easy to follow, and include stretching exercises, resistance training and Tai Chi.

The program also provides an opportunity for women to meet other women with cancer who live in their local area.

To find out more about Stepping into Wellness, please call Counterpart on 1300 781 500 or send an email to: info@counterpart.org.au
